The earliest version of this project was completed for a conference on Late Ming music convened at the University of Michigan by Professor Joseph Lam, May 5-6, 2006, hence the focus on music and the fact that references to secondary scholarship in the present draft do not often mention works from the 21st century. I expect that for most readers it will be the first appendix that should be of most practical use and interest.
