After Chen Hong’s defence of Wu Song, the county magistrate agrees to spare his life and reduce his sentence. In the beginning of the sixth month, the approval of the sentence is received from the provincial authorities. Wu Song is sentenced to be exiled to Mengzhou in Henan province for penal servitude, and is escorted on the trip by two guards.
